Common Treatments for ear pain based on the diagnosis:
Wax removal
If ear pain is caused by accumulation of wax, ear cleaning under endoscopic vision is done for safe removal without damaging the ear canal. Ear wax drops may be prescribed to soften the hard ear wax for few days before cleaning the ear.
External ear infection or otitis externa treatment
Antibiotic ear drops, ear packs or wick soaked in ear drop or antibiotic ointment or ichthammol glycerin may help.
Fungal ear infection or otomycosis
Thorough cleaning of the ear along with antifungal ear drops or cream is advised.
Middle ear infection or ear discharge
